(A portion of the proceeds is donated to support conservation efforts in the surrounding Minoh mountains.)

How to Enjoy Omikuji
Modern Japanese omikuji (fortune slips) come in many varieties, each with its own interpretations and customs.
The results and messages written on omikuji are meant to be enjoyed, so there’s no need to worry too much even if the fortune isn’t exactly what you were hoping for.
Etiquette surrounding omikuji can also vary depending on the region or type, so there’s no need to be overly concerned about following a specific way to enjoy them.
For example, most omikuji can be drawn more than once, and it’s totally fine to take them home as a souvenir.
There’s no need to worry too much about how to dispose of them either—just handle them with basic respect.
Of course, you’re free to enjoy Minokuji in your own way, too.
Omikuji Rankings
Omikuji results are ranked differently depending on the type or the region, but the general order looks like this:
(The order of chū-kichi and kichi may vary depending on the shrine or region.)
大吉 Daikichi – Great blessing
吉 Kichi – Good fortune
中吉 Chū-kichi – Moderate fortune
小吉 Shō-kichi – Small fortune
末吉 Sue-kichi – Future fortune
凶 Kyō – Bad luck
大凶 Daikyō – Great misfortune
In Minokuji, the special local version of omikuji in Minoh, the highest possible fortune is 大大吉 Dai-daikichi (Double Great Blessing).
